A Case of Traumatic Pneumocephalus Filling the Ventricles and Subarachnoid Space

Abstract
The term "pneumocephalus" means "air within the cranial cavity4l" and theoretically two mechanical sources for the pneumocephalus has been considered; 1) compound skull fracture including basal fracture, through which air is forced from the exterior, and 2) the product of gas producing organisms after their entrance into the cranial cavity".
Luckett (1913)7 originally demonstrated post-traumatic pneumocephalus on the roentgenologic examination in a patient with a skull fracture, and several reports of post-traumatic pneumocephalus followed
However it has been known that post-traumatic pneumocephalus involving the ventricles and subarachnoid space simultaneously was rare. We report a case of 31 year old Korean male with post-traumatic pneumocephalus filling the ventricles and subarchnoid space (Fig. 1, 2, 3).
